Freedom of SPEECH Faith
We Can’t Be Stopped
It’s no secret that our freedoms is the U.S. are under attack. On college campuses and in the public arena our ability to express our opinions are being contested. Whether in day-to-day discussions or in the world of social media, it seems we are navigating through a mine field. As I walked around our neighborhood recently, during my evening time of communing with God, I realized that no one can stop me from praying. I may have my rights to free speech and open communication infringed upon, but I can express my faith in prayer to my heart’s content. It was a liberating thought!
Never Give Up
“One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” (Luke 18:1 NLT)
Throughout the past year I have set aside time to wait on God and be still in His presence. As I begin seeking God, many times I have sensed the Spirit encouraging me to pray. I pray for my family, friends, and relatives. I remember people in ministry, as well as government officials. I also pray against principalities and powers behind abortion and other enemies. I am always a little surprised by how the Spirit continuously urges me to keep praying and never give up.
Unseen Enemies, Divine Weapons
As I pray about current events and issues I need to continually remind myself that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
Our foes are not men and women, but spiritual forces. Thank God, our weapons are spiritual as well. “The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)
World Changing Potential
You and I can change the course of the world by faith. Our prayers cannot be legislated against. Our faith can not be silenced,. Our heart communication with God cannot be hindered or controlled.
“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” (Ephesians 3:12 NLT) Because of Jesus, we can pray and bring our requests directly before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Every Knee Will Bow and Every Tongue Confess
When I pray, I try to employ as much scripture as possible. One of the grand promises which I believe with my whole heart is “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11). A few nights ago I affirmed in faith that every knee in Lancaster County and every tongue in Pennsylvania, would one day confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I have not seen this reality with my physical eyes, but I do believe it with the eyes of faith. For faith is the “assurance of things hoped for, and the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
If My People
For this world to bow to Jesus and confess Him as their Lord, I do not need them to do anything, the ball is in my court. I need to humble myself and pray and seek God’s face. God will win the day and He will turn their heart to Himself. Soon His kingdom will come on earth just as it is in heaven. My responsibility to to humbly pray, turn from my sin, and seek God’s face. Then He will hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Lift Up Your Heads
Friends, I am encouraged. I am praying, I am seeking, and I am standing in faith on God’s word. I know that one day “The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14). Amen and Amen!
There are two topical Studies on Prayer and Faith, which will be in the revised edition of Stewardship attached to this newsletter. I hope they will be an encouragement to your faith and perseverance in prayer.
