The Word of God is Eternal, Inspired, Accurate, and Profitable   Since God is love and God is good, we are assured His in-spirited word flows from a heart of love and was written for our good. This passage in Deuteronomy 5:29 expresses this conviction beautifully, “Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!”   Not only does God’s word provide us a blueprint for a good long life for us and our children, He also promises that when we follow His divine instructions, we will be protected in times of peril.   According to Code   In 1992, Hurricane Andrew destroyed thousands of homes in South Florida. Yet in an area where the wreckage looked like a war zone, one house remained standing, still firmly anchored to its foundation.   When a reporter asked the homeowner why his house had not been blown away, he replied, "I built this house myself. I also built it according to the Florida state building code. When the code called for 2" x 6" roof trusses, I used 2" x 6" roof trusses. I was told that a house built according to code could withstand a hurricane-- and it did.”   Trust and Obey   Reading and engaging with the word is a great start. But as we learn from reading about the wise and foolish men, the principles of His word are only effective when put into daily practice.   “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24-27)   These two people may have attended the same church, read their Bibles faithfully, and affirmed their belief in the inspiration of scripture. The difference was the wise man “hears these words of mine and does them.”   Upcoming Schedule   I will be speaking at IAHE in Indianapolis, IN this coming weekend, March 23-25)    Then I will be in the following cities in the month of April.
